Best New Browser Games: May 2025 Roundup

Five games worth your attention from May 2025.

Orbit Decay (itch.io, free) — A physics puzzle game from a developer who worked on Nitrome's gravity-shift titles. You control nothing; you set initial conditions and observe. The sixty levels escalate from 'I see what this is doing' to 'I need a physics degree.' It is the most conceptually confident browser game I have played in two years.

Spelunker's Rest (browser, invitation beta) — A roguelite dungeon-crawler that saves to server-side account (free) and supports suspend-from-any-room. The suspension mechanic alone is worth noting: it finally solves the 'I need to close my laptop' problem for a session-length-intensive genre. Limited beta slots available via the developer's newsletter.

Pixel Beach (poki.com) — A deceptively simple sand-castle builder with water physics that actually behave. It belongs in the family-mixed-age category and will absorb six-year-olds and forty-year-olds equally. No account, no energy system, no chat.

Wordlingo — A Wordle derivative with the added constraint that the answer changes language mid-game. Only for players comfortable with at least two languages. Better than it sounds, more educational than it intends to be.

TypeDuels Update (typeracer.com) — Not a new game but a notable update: TypeRacer added real-time keystroke graphs to post-race analysis. You can see exactly where you slowed down and on which key combinations. This is the kind of feedback loop that accelerates improvement measurably. Worth revisiting if you abandoned it after basic practice.
